Three girls shot in Liberty City, Miami, were taken to Ryder Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday, authorities said.

The girls – ages 10, 15 and 18 – were outside a home at 1239 Northwest 65th St. when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside it began shooting late Tuesday afternoon. The vehicle, whose make and model are unknown, then sped away, Miami Police said.

Miami Fire Rescue first responders first found a 10-year-old girl who had a gunshot wound to the arm, agency spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll said. She had run for help but collapsed in front of a nearby house, according to police. She was quickly rushed to Ryder.

Then Fire Rescue found two more female victims, ages 15 and 18, who had also been shot, as they were walking around amongst the many people outside, Carroll said.

They were grazed by bullets and did not have life-threatening injuries, but were also brought to the hospital.

“But you can imagine how much of a chaotic scene it was out there with the amount of people out there. So police are trying to get a grasp of what actually took place, and they’re working on their investigation right now,” Carroll said.

Witness Nowell Hayes attested to the chaos.

"I was just coming home and I heard four gunshots and just screaming and I started running,” he said.

The 18-year-old victim's mother, Sophia Powell, said the girls told her they were targeted, however.

"They said that it was a fight, a fight going on or something and one of the girls had called the boys to come back to shoot them,” Powell said.
