Governors Have ‘High Degree of Anxiety' Over Senate Health Care Bill

The states' leaders are meeting for the National Governors Association summer meeting Friday and Saturday

The nation's governors anxiously await the end result of the Senate GOP's attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare, with the potential loss of Medicaid expansion remaining a prime concern for many state leaders, according to NBC News.

"It's on everyone's mind. It's in every private conversation. There's a high degree of anxiety,” said Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo, a Democrat who serves as the host of the summer meeting of the National Governors Association on Friday and Saturday. “They see it as an unfair shift of financial burden from the federal government to the states.”

Vice President Mike Pence, who has led efforts from the executive branch to support the bill while President Donald Trump is in France, will speak at the governors’ meeting and meet with skeptical leaders, including Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval of Nevada, an opponent of the bill.
