Market Basket Customers Rally for Arthur T. Demoulas, Employees

The latest in a string of protests was held Saturday in Tewksbury, Mass.

Customers staged a large rally outside a Market Basket store in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, voicing their support for ousted CEO Arthur T. Demoulas Saturday.

Days after Gov. Deval Patrick said a deal was close and urged employees to return to work, former patrons of the supermarket chain held signs bearing messages like "We are the customer - we quit."

Those rallying Saturday showed that they will stand with the employees and Artie T.

"If they're willing to do it, I'm willing to stand by them," said customer Janet Tremblay. "This is their choice. They're making this choice for a reason."

"The customers - they want Arthur T. back, too," said Assistant Manager Kevin Levesque. "They want their price, their family, they want everything back."

CEOs Felicia Thornton and Jim Gooch imposed a deadline for 200 employees to return to work Friday or risk being fired.

As associates rallied while allowing that deadline to pass, a man was charged with disorderly conduct and assault after police say he went after protesters with a hammer.
