The world's most popular hamburger chain is getting into the chicken wing business.
After a successful test run in Atlanta, McDonald's will launch Mighty Wings nationwide on Sept. 9, according to a statement from the company.
The wings are sold in 3, 5 and 10 pieces, starting at $2.99, and will come in a variety of nine sauces. It's debatable whether the wings will take flight, as they are priced higher than the popular Chicken McNuggets and more cumbersome to eat neatly in the car.
Still, McDonald's says the new menu offering tested well in Atlanta last year, and the company brought wings back to Atlanta's 280 locations this year.
But act quickly. The wings won't be around long enough for the holidays, much less the Super Bowl: The wings will leave McDonald's restaurants by the end of November.
