It's Charlie! The ‘Today' Show Puppy Has a Name

The "puppy with a purpose" will appear on the 'Today' show regularly as he maneuvers training

The new "Today" show puppy has a name.

Move over Wrangler, here comes Charlie.

Viewers voted online and selected Charlie over Ace and Sarge.

The 8-week-old's new name was announced Tuesday morning on the "Today" show.

The black Labrador retriever puppy is being trained by America's VetDogs, a nonprofit organization that trains dogs to support veterans and first responders during combat, both physically and emotionally.

America's VetDogs also trained Wrangler, a service dog that appeared on "Today" from Jan. 2015 to March 2016.

Charlie will visit "Today" regularly over the next year with his instructor Olivia Poff, as he receives training to become a service dog.
