‘We Do It For You': Patriots Celebrate Championship With Fans in Boston

The New England Patriots and Tom Brady took their victory lap Tuesday

Over a million New England Patriots fans lined the streets of Boston on Tuesday to celebrate the team's improbable Super Bowl victory, just two days after the Patriots erased a 25-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28.

"One more! I told you, 'We're gonna bring this sucker home,' and we brought it home! Thank you guys," Tom Brady yelled to throngs of fans outside City Hall, the finish line of the victory parade. "We do it for you! We do it for us! Let's go! Let's go!"

Hoards of faithful Patriots supporters braved cold, snowy conditions to celebrate the stunning championship, the team's fifth, while players and team officials rode through the streets in duck boats, the amphibious vehicles popular with tourists seeing the city's sights.

Brady, the Super Bowl MVP, took turns with his teammates hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, while fans — many wearing Patriots gear over winter coats — roared from the crowd. Running back LeGarrette Blount, tight end Martellus Bennett and other players led an impromptu dance party on their duck boat.

As Boston Mayor Marty Walsh introduced him, the boos for Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker were prevalent on City Hall Plaza. But many transitioned to applause when he made an announcement.

"In honor of the fifth world championship by these New England Patriots, we declare today, February 7th, New England Patriots Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts," the governor shouted.

Walsh channeled his inner hype man and got the crowd pumped up.

"Do we have the best football team on the planet? We have the best coach on the planet! The best offense on the planet! The best defense on the planet! And the best owner on the planet, let's hear it for Robert Kraft!"

Kraft said after the Super Bowl that due to the events of the last two years, the Patriots' fifth victory was their sweetest. Tuesday, he thanked the fans for standing by the team.

"There's been a lot of talk over the last couple weeks about GOATs. As you all know, we have the GOAT when it comes to players in Tom Brady. We have the GOAT when it comes to coaches in Bill Belichick. But I want all of you to know that my family and our organization feel we have the GOAT of fans on the planet!"

The Patriots' often-stoic head coach didn't just smile and embrace the celebration — he led a chant.

"These players, they've worked harder than any team I've ever coached. They came to work every day, and there were no days off! No day off! No days off! No days off! No days off," he shouted. "Go Pats!"

Players also waved black "Roger That" T-shirts from the duck boats, a jab at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who became Public Enemy No. 1 in Boston for suspending Brady for four games at the start of the 2016 season for Brady's role in the "Deflategate" scandal.

The Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins have all celebrated championships with duck boat parades in recent years.

The heavy snow falling in downtown Boston didn't deter fans, who came out in force to cheer on the Patriots.

Patriots fans are used to braving the weather to celebrate Super Bowls. Two years ago, the Patriots' victory parade was delayed a day as the region gritted through a season of historic levels of snow.

The death of a severely autistic and emaciated 17-year-old boy in Hartford has been ruled a homicide, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) said.

Brady led one of the greatest comebacks in sports history on Sunday night, highlighted by a Julian Edelman catch that was almost beyond belief.

The Patriots pulled themselves out of a 25-point hole against the Falcons for New England's fifth championship.

Brady posted a message on Facebook and Instagram on Monday, unofficially declaring Tuesday a holiday. "Attention managers of Boston: I hereby declare tomorrow a city-wide holiday. TOMORROW, WE DANCE IN THE STREETS #LETSGOOOOOOOOO," he said, followed by a video of him speaking after the Super Bowl.

Other Patriots also chimed in about the parade on social media.

"This is going to be a Game of Thrones looking parade," defensive lineman Chris Long said on Twitter.

"Boston, let's go!" said Edelman.
