President Donald Trump waits outside the West Wing of the White House for the arrival of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, in Washington. ESPN distanced itself from anchor Jemele Hill's tweets one day after she called Trump "a white supremacist" and "a bigot."

President Donald Trump will make his way to Naples, Florida, Thursday to visit those battered by one of the strongest storms ever recorded.

The president's visit is "to make sure the troops that he's put in place are doing their job," said his homeland security adviser Tom Bossert. The federal government is helping people secure shelter with money for rent, hotels or pre-manufactured housing, he said.

Federal Emergency Management Agency administrator Brock Long said preliminary estimates suggested that 25 percent of the homes in the Florida Keys were destroyed and 65 percent sustained major damage.
