Women's Volleyball: US Beats.Japan, Advances to Semifinals

    The U.S. women's volleyball team is headed to the semifinals.

    Team USA beat Japan 3-0 Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

    They took the first set 26-16 then battled Japan to a 25-23 win in the second set. The U.S. won the third set 25-22. 

    They'll next play the winner of the Russia-Serbia game set for 5 p.m. ET. 

    Earlier Tuesday, the Netherlands defeated South Korea 3-1 to advance. 

    The semifinals will take place on Thursday.
