FBI Serves Search Warrant at Montebello Senator's Capitol Office

FBI agents served search warrants at the Capitol office of a Southern California senator, the Senate's sergeant of arms said Tuesday evening.

"This afternoon, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation served search warrants in the State Capitol at the office of Senator Ron Calderon," Tony Beard said.

"Those warrants are sealed by order of the Federal Court; therefore we have no further information. The Senate has and will continue to fully cooperate with the agents in this matter."

Calderon, pictured at right, represents California's 30th District, which includes Montebello, South El Monte, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, Santa Fe Springs, South Gate, La Mirada, Pico Rivera, Commerce, Norwalk, Cudahy, Bell and Whittier.

No additional information was immediately available.

NOTE: In his statement, Beard erroneously said FBI agents also searched the Legislative Office Building at the Latino Legislative Caucus office.

Agents did not raid the Caucus' offices as part of an investigation involving Calderon,  Sen. Ricado Lara (D-Los Angeles) and Vice Chair Assemblymember V. Manuel Perez (D-Coachella) said in a statement issued Wednesday.
