This is the Andruw Jones Dodger fans remember.

What a difference a few months (and an enormous ego) makes. This was Andruw Jones in Spring Training:

"I am sorry I didn't stand up to my reputation," he says. "I am sorry for what I put everyone through. I am sorry I did not make it work."

This was Jones over the weekend.

He said he asked out mainly because of the way he was treated by Dodgers owner Frank McCourt.

"He wasn't standing behind me, I think," Jones said, adding that if McCourt had shown him more respect, "I almost definitely would be part of the L.A. Dodgers right now."

On behalf of Dodgers fans everywhere — thank you Frank McCourt.

Anything you did to drive this .158 hitter (with a whopping 14 RBI) out of town is greatly appreciated. We have great young outfielders like Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier who deserved to be playing every day and they were stuck behind Jones, who showed up to camp looking like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Injuries slowed him, but nobody got the impression he was a great teammate.

If his ego requires him to rewrite history so it is McCourt’s fault he was run out of town, that’s just sad. His play ran him out.

This season in Texas he has raised his average to a pedestrian .248 and already has two more RBIs than he did all of last year. Good for him. He was once a great player and he shouldn’t leave the game looking as bad as he did.

We’re just glad he is having a modest comeback somewhere other than Chavez Ravine. His welcome was worn out and then some there.
