With not much to do but wait after winning the AL West title, the Angels dedcided to throw a party.
The team will have a rally after Thursday's game at Angel Stadium, and the event features an "Avid Fan Contest." The most avid of fans will receive four tickets to an American League Division Series game.
Contestants will be pre-selected based on fan enthusiasm, most original or entertaining costume and accessories. It seems like a no-brainer, but team officials strongly suggest contestant participants dress in red.
The rally is to celebrate the Angels' third consecutive American League West Division championship.
Admission to the rally is free. It is expected to start around 6 p.m. Fans should enter the parking lot at the Orangewood entrance and the stadium through the Home Plate Gate.
Angel announcers Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler will serve as hosts and interview current players and coaches and former Angels Bobby Grich and Clyde Wright.
The rally will also include Angels tribute videos, a performance by the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, a team sendoff to honor the Angels as they leave for their final regular-season road trip to Oakland, and a fireworks display.
Fans interested in becoming contestants must register no later than the top of the ninth inning at the Avid Fan sign-in table in front of the Diamond Club Restaurant entrance.
The Angels will begin the division series against the Boston Red Sox either Wednesday or Thursday at Angel Stadium. Boston has defeated the Angels in the division series the past two seasons.
