Angels Players Witness Suicide Near New York Hotel

Two Los Angeles Angels players witnessed a man jump to his death from atop a luxury New York City hotel on Tuesday, My FOX NY reported.

The man, Manhattan resident Brian Fiore, 39, committed suicide at about 8:15 a.m., jumping from the rooftop pool area of Le Parker Meridien Hotel.

Pitchers Jered Weaver and Matt Palmer "were across the street at the time and witnessed the fall and were shaken up by it," Angels manager Mike Scioscia told FOX.

"Anybody walking by something like that is going to have feelings, but you've got to keep going," Palmer said after the game.

Weaver would not answer questions about the incident.

Neither Weaver nor Palmer pitched at the Yankees' home opener, which New York won, 7-5.
