Chelsea Beats Liverpool at the Rose Bowl

Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Liverpool played a physical and entertaining match at the Rose Bowl

In a surprisingly vicious preseason game, Premier League heavyweights Chelsea FC beat Liverpool FC 1-0 at the Rose Bowl in front of 53,117 fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Wednesday's match started off with a headed goal from Chelsea defender Gary Cahill via a Cesc Fabregas corner, as the Blues took the early lead only 10 minutes into the contest. From there, though, the match was marred by fouls.

By halftime, the teams had combined for four yellow cards and a violent head collision that resulted in Liverpool's Marko Grujic not returning for the second half.

While the first half had its violent incidents, the second half provided the most gruesome moment of the match, as Chelsea midfielder Fabregas put his cleats into Ragner Klaven on a reckless challenge. The match referee did not hesitate to pull the red card, and the Blues played down a man for the remainder of the hot summer night.
