Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton was arrested in Grapevine, Texas, early Sunday Morning.
Sergeant Robert Eberling with the Grapevine police department confirms Melton was taken into custody on the charges of assault and public intoxication.
Sgt. Eberling said Melton got into a confrontation with a staff member from The Chill Restaurant and Bar on Main Street.
"Melton became belligerent with some of the staff members of the restaurant," Sgt. Robert Eberling of the Grapevine Police Department told the Chicago Tribune. "He was asked to leave. When he was in the process of being escorted from the restaurant, he struck one of the staff members. He was restrained at that point."
Melton bonded out at 11 a.m. and no one was injured in the assault, according to police.
Melton is from the Fort Worth area and attended Grapevine High School and the University of Texas before being drafted by the Bears. He has been on injured reserve since tearing the ACL in his left knee in September.
The Bears released a statement early Sunday afternoon: "We are aware of the reports regarding Henry Melton. We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the arrest."
