The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the hirings of former pitcher Greg Maddux and slugger Raul Ibanez as special assistants to the front office.

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have brought back Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux. The four-time Cy Young winner had two previous stints with Los Angeles in 2006 and 2008, but this time he won't be on the mound.

The team announced on Tuesday that they hired Maddux as a Special Assistant to Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers current President of Baseball Operations. Joining Maddux in the front office is 19-year veteran Raul Ibanez who retired in 2014 after a short stint with the Kansas City Royals.

The Dodgers released a statement saying that Maddux and Ibanez will assist Friedman in all aspects of baseball operations including scouting, player development and working with the players on both the Major and minor league levels.

Maddux played 23 seasons in the Majors with the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Dodgers and San Diego Padres. He posts a career record of 355-227 with a 3.16 ERA in 740 starts. He was an 18-time Gold Glove winner, 8-time All-Star, and was a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Ibanez played 19 years with the Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Kansas City Royals. He has a career batting average of .272, with 305 home runs and 1,207 RBIs in 2,161 games. He spent last season working in the broadcast booth with MLB.
