LA Kings captain, Dustin Brown, was in midseason form for his team's home opener against the San Jose Sharks on Staples Center on Wednesday.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion center is no stranger to the Kings vs. Sharks rivalry, and he definitely is no stranger to Sharks center Logan Couture.
Brown annihilated Couture in the first period of the team's season opening loss to the San Jose Sharks. With Couture racing down the center of the ice, Brown lowered his body and launched himself into Couture.
Brown was not whistled for a penalty on the hit, but slow-motion replays showed that the King's captain drilled Couture in the head with his helmet, and should have received two minutes in the box.
Couture was not happy that Brown did not receive a penalty on the play and gave the referees on the ice an earful as he was attended to by the San Jose medical staff on the bench for a cut above his nose.
If this was the NFL, Brown would surely have been flagged for targeting the head area, but the NHL is a little more no-holds-barred when it comes to these kind of things. Take a look at the video below and tell us what you think.
