NBA Announces Lakers' Summer League Schedule

The NBA announced the Los Angeles Lakers' Summer League schedule for 2016 with a key game against Philadelphia on Saturday

On Tuesday, the NBA announced its schedule for the 2016 Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, which meant the Los Angeles Lakers finally got a look at their schedule.

On the same day, a report emerged that the Philadelphia 76ers would select Ben Simmons with the no. 1 overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft, so all signs point to the Lakers selecting Brandon Ingram out of Duke with the no. 2 pick. Ingram expects to join the likes of D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. in a stacked Lakers' Summer League squad.

Jordan Clarkson's involvement would likely be predicated on his contract status with the team, as he is a restricted free agent.

Regardless, the Lakers will take a strong squad into its opening game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, July 8, at the Thomas & Mack Center. All NBA Summer League games are held at the Thomas & Mack Center, which is on the UNLV campus.

The big game on the Lakers' Summer League schedule, however, will be on Saturday, July 9. Facing off against the Sixers means a game involving the no. 1 and no. 2 picks in the 2016 NBA Draft going head to head. The Lakers drew a healthy crowd at NBA Summer League in 2015 to the point that the upper deck of the arena had to be opened, so Saturday's game promises to be a mad house.

The Lakers will have Sunday, July 11, off and then, Monday, July 11 will feature the Lakers taking on the Golden State Warriors, which is new head coach Luke Walton's former team. Based on the team's performance, the Lakers will be seeded in a knockout tournament, where the team is guaranteed two more games. LA lost four of its five games in 2015, so the team will hope to improve on that poor showing.

The Las Vegas Summer League concludes on July 18, and the Lakers could conceivably play up to eight games from July 8 to July 18. Summer League games will be televised. TWC SportsNet and TWC Deportes will show all Lakers' games, and ESPN and NBATV will provide coverage for the entire tournament.
