On Friday, both the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers revealed their new jerseys for the 2017-18 season, with Nike taking hold as the manufacturer and designer of the new uniforms.
The Lakers stuck with their traditional purple, gold and Sunday white uniforms with slight modifications from the new designers. Though fashion experts and jersey afficionados can likely detail the numerous minor alterations to the team's new diggs, the most notable difference is a modified collar and also the giant Nike emblem.

For some reason, the Lakers opted to model the new jerseys with the no. 17, which is most often connected to former Lakers center Andrew Bynum. For anyone wondering, Bynum is still only 29 years old, but the two-time champion's NBA career has long been over.
The NBA now allows teams to take on sponsorship logos on their jerseys, but the Lakers have seemingly resisted the revenue opportunity for the time being with only the Nike logo visible.
For the Clippers, the same Nike logo is visible in slick new jerseys fashioned by DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin, as Chris Paul is no longer with the team.

At the end of the day, it's about who is wearing the jersey--not the jersey itself. The Lakers and Clippers will both don their new apparel on opening Oct. 19 in the teams' 2017-18 season opener.
