Manchester City, Real Madrid in LA

Real Madrid and Manchester City will face off at the LA Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday evening

On Wednesday, football will be played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum once again, but it won't be the Rams, Trojans or even the Chargers playing the brand of football best associated with the famous central LA venue.

Champions League winner Real Madrid takes on Premier League heavy weight Manchester City in a preseason exhibition match that expects to draw big crowds to a stadium that can hold over 90,000 warm bodies.

While Cristiano Ronaldo was last seen touring China after competing in the Confederations Cup with Portugal earlier in the summer and earning a late start to preseason, Real Madrid expects to feature top talents like Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Manchester City recently signed a trio of high-priced defenders, but the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne expect to attract most of the attention on Wednesday night. Also, fans should get their first peek of newcomer Bernardo Silva, who joined from AS Monaco earlier in the summer.

Preseason friendlies have become a fixture in the United States in recent years, as big time European football clubs spend a few weeks playing in major American cities in hopes of expanding the reach of the clubs' billion dollar brands.

U.S. fans continue to pay for tickets and seemingly enjoy watching top talent from across the globe converting NFL and MLB stadiums into soccer stadiums for the summer. And on Wednesday, one should expect another strong showing as two of the top teams on the planet prepare for the start of a season that is less than a month away.

Kick-off at the LA Coliseum for Manchester City versus Real Madrid is at 8:35 p.m. Pacific Time.
