Matt Vasgersian has never seen the Woody Allen film "Crimes and Misdemeanors." In the movie, Alan Alda's character opines that "Comedy is tragedy plus time."

That means you don't crack jokes at the exact moment Brad Hawpe is being helped off the field wearing a neck brace after getting beaned with a baseball. In the video below, courtesy of Bugs and Cranks, you'll learn that Vasgersian isn't a believer.

And if you do choose the inappropriate moment to make a joke, please try and make it a remotely funny one. "This black guy looks exactly like this other black guy" isn't ever that joke.

It doesn't take much to get the guys on a sports studio show into fits of laughter, so you can be sure that you haven't said anything remotely funny when they are sitting there silent except for the occasional dumbfounded "Dude."

UPDATE: Vasgersian reached out to the website Kissing Suzy Kolber and apologized for his comments.

“I am an idiot .. Save the racial stuff which is just flat out wrong, almost all of what has been posted on my regrettably horrific timing is spot on .. It was a bad decision made on live tv and i can absolutely understand how that make an announcer sound insensitive. Bad on the spot judgment. Nobody feels worse about it than I do guys.”

Points to Vasgersian for recognizing his mistake and owning up to every inch of it.
