Milan Lucic and Tyler Toffoli Lead LA Kings to Sixth Straight Win

WINNIPEG – Milan Lucic scored his second goal in an LA uniform and Tyler Toffoli tallied his seventh of the season as the Kings defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 for their sixth straight victory on Tuesday night at the MTS Centre.

Unlike the end of last season, LA has started off hot on the road to start the season as they are now 3-0-0 away from Staples Center. In 2014, the Kings struggled away from home, going 15-18-8 including three straight losses in Canada at the end of the season.

Jake Muzzin and Trever Lewis also scored for the Kings who are currently in first place in the Pacific division with 12 points.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored the first goal of the game when he caught Jonathan Quick off guard with an unassisted wrist shot from just in front of the blue line. Ehlers picked up the puck off the boards and slapped a wrist shot off Quick's pads while skating towards center ice.

Jake Muzzin tied the game with a huge slapshot from inside the blue line at the end of the second period. Muzzin's lazer beam blasted past Ondrej Pavelec and into the net before you could say, "Go Kings Go!"

Lucic scored his second goal in a Kings uniform thanks to a terrific two-on-one break led by Tyler Toffoli. Lucic stole the faceoff in the Kings zone and quickly passed to Toffoli as the two skaters raced from end-to-end for the game-winning goal.

Toffoli's unselfish play was rewarded minutes later when he scored an empty-net goal on a breakaway with less than a minute remaining in the game. It was Toffoli's team-high seventh goal this season.

Trevor Lewis piled on seconds later with a second empty-net goal for Los Angeles as he crossed the blue line from the right hand side of the Jets zone, firing on the empty net.

The line of Lucic, Toffoli and Jeff Carter has been unstoppable over the course of the six-game winning streak, as they have been responsible for 12 goals and 10 assists on the young season.

Up next, the LA Kings will travel to Nashville to take on the Predators on Halloween night in a battle for first place in the NHL Western Conference.
