USC Defeats Cross-Town Rival UCLA, 40-21, to Move Ahead in Pac-12 South Championship

Saturday's game determined that USC will move on to play Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Cross-town rivals UCLA and USC went head-to-head Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, with USC defeating UCLA 40 to 21.

For the first time since 2012, USC will move on to the Pac 12 Championship Game where they will meet the Stanford Cardinal on Dec. 5 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The champion will also be awarded the Victory Bell, according to the Bruins' website. The bell -- which originally hung atop a Southern Pacific freight locomotive -- has been passed back and forth between the two Los Angeles schools since 1942.

Senior quarterback, Cody Kessler, played his final game in the rivalry, whereas UCLA freshman QB Josh Rosen, is playing in his first game in the rivalry.

The Trojans have been under new leadership for the past month and a half, after their coach, Steve Sarkisian, was placed on indefinite leave on Oct. 11 and fired a day later. Offensive coordinator Clay Helton was appointed as interim coach.

UCLA has won the game for the last three years under coach Jim Mora.

Kickoff took place at 12:30PM PST and is airing live on ABC.
