They’re the best of the best of southern California’s high school football stars and this Thanksgiving, Roggin’s Heroes brings together 12 of the top prep athletes in the state, forming a new family on this holiday.
And they have plenty to be thankful for.
Just ask Zach Green, whose rise to stardom has taken its share of twists and turns. A family breakup could have derailed his success, but the bond he shares with his father has helped strengthen Zach as a man and as a football player. And when he needs to be even stronger, the Saint Bonaventure star climbs into a hyperbaric chamber.
Then there’s Francis Owusu. Incredibly gifted both athletically and academically, Francis’ family has set the bar high. His oldest brother graduated from Stanford and now plays in the NFL. Another brother plays football at Harvard, while their sister is on the basketball team at Columbia. Francis is making the family proud; he’ll be at Stanford this fall after a successful prep career at Oaks Christian.
For Johnny Stanton, a major knee injury could have threatened his college scholarship to Nebraska. But that’s still intact, and so is his attitude. Grateful for the opportunity to learn, Johnny has plenty of supporters, including Jets quarterback Tim Tebow.
