UCLA quarterback, Kevin Prince, led the comeback effort against Oregon State, as he rallied the Bruins back from a 19-3 fourth-quarter deficit, but UCLA fell short 26-19. The loss was the fifth straight for the Bruins and matches its worst-ever start in conference play.
UCLA tied the game at 19 after Prince threw two late touchdowns and was successful on two 2-point conversions, but the Beavers marched down the field for a 70-yard drive and the go-ahead touchdown. James Rodgers capped the drive with a 17-yard run on a wide receiver sweep. His younger brother, Jacquizz Rodgers, was equally impressive rushing for 112 yards, adding 96 yards receiving, and even throwing a touchdown pass.
With the Rodgers brothers carrying most of the load, Oregon State moved the ball well on offense, but had comparatively little to show for it, settling for four Justin Kahut field goals when drives stalled.
Sean Canfield was 25 of 34 for 305 yards for the Beavers, as they beat the Bruins in Corvallis for the first time since 1999. James Rodgers had 106 yards receiving.
Bruin wide receiver, Rosario Nelson, had six catches for 152 yards and a touchdown to provide the bulk of the offensive firepower for the Bruins.
The Bruins are happy to be through the month of October. After finishing the month of September undefeated going 3-0, they laid an egg in October losing all five games. The question on the minds of all Bruins football fans is: "Will November look more like September or October?"
