Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner Homer, But Dodgers Fall to Braves 4-3

Justin Turner and Yasiel Puig each hit solo homers, but the Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Atlanta Braves 4-3 on Tuesday at Turner Field.

Chris Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Braves and Nick Markakis hit a triple, and scored two runs as Atlanta hung on for starter Alex Wood.

Wood (7-6) overcame homers to Puig and Turner, allowing just one other run to come across as he surrendered three, on six hits, in 6.2 innings.

"For three, four innings, his stuff was marginal at best," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "But he rises to the occasion. He competes."

Los Angeles struggled in the heat and humidity of Atlanta, falling in back-to-back games for the first time since June 22-23 in Chicago.

Brett Anderson left the game in the third inning after injuring his left Achilles tendon chasing a ground ball. Anderson allowed three runs on five hits in 2.2 innings. Anderson will get further tests done on Wednesday, but initial tests showed no tear in the Achilles.

Chin-Hui Tsao replaced Anderson and hit a leadoff double in the top of the fifth inning. The ground-rule double was Tsao's first at-bat and hit in 12 years. Tsao's last hit, ironically came against the Atlanta Braves in Sept. 2003.

Don Mattingly was ejected in the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes shortly thereafter.

"He ejected me because, really, I'd seen him coming after Justin, which I didn't like, because we knew it was a ball," Mattingly said. "And then I was really not going to allow him to come across the field. When he started walking toward Justin, I'm going to have to come out at that point."

Juan Uribe continued to be a thorn in the Dodgers side as the former locker room favorite knocked in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth to give the Braves the 4-3 lead.

Jim Johnson pitched a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save of the season.

Game Notes:
Carl Crawford was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City before the game, and Monday's starter Brandon Beachy was sent down to in his place. Crawford has not played since April 28th.
