iPhone Gets an Upgrade Too

advertisement

It was an early Christmas for iPhone users. In a wave of announcements, Apple released version 3.1 of the Phone’s operating system and added some surprising features to iTunes for managing it.

The upgrade offers several new features and a few bug fixes. Genius Recommendations for apps gives users suggestions for new apps based on ones they’ve previously downloaded. In addition, Genius Mixes creates a virtual DJ that groups and plays similar songs in your library.

You can now use iTunes to organize your home screens making it easier to move, delete, and sync apps. Users can also download custom ringtones directly to the phone for $1.29.

Other updates include improvements in syncing for media, the ability to save video from e-mail to your camera roll, non-destructive video editing, better Wi-fi performance, the ability to use Voice Control over Bluetooth, and more.

The upgrade is available for free from Apple.com.
