Pizza Man Accused of Posing as Cop To Impress Girlfriend

A Pizza Hut worker was arrested in Florida this week for impersonating a police officer for months in an attempt to impress his girlfriend. Needless to say, the couple is no longer together.

From October 2012 to January 2013, Christopher Sharp, 33, allegedly came home to girlfriend Randi Merill in a Deputy Sheriff’s uniform. He shared stories about his day as a "Pasco County deputy," and even gave legal advice to people regarding child custody matters, DUI arrests, and traffic citations, authorities said Tuesday.

Sharp allegedly arrived to a New Year’s Eve party in uniform and told guests stories about “the DUI enforcement he had been conducting earlier that night,” according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office Media Release.

A suspicious guest at the party led to an investigation on Sharp, eventually revealing him to be a full-time employee at the local Pizza Hut. The sheriff's uniform was stolen from Sharp’s sister’s boyfriend, who is a real deputy sheriff, according to police.

Sharp allegedly told police that he engaged in the ruse to impress his girlfriend.

“Here is a shining example of someone who makes extremely poor decisions,” Sheriff Al Nienhuis said in the release.

Sharp was taken into custody on a $2,000 bond.
