A Chicago auction house is peddling pieces of the King’s coif.

Leslie Hindman Auctioneers will hold an Elvis memorabilia auction on October 18, and the main attraction is hair that was trimmed from the King’s head when he went into the military in 1958.

The hair is part of The Gary Pepper collection of more than 200 pieces of Elvis memorabilia. Pepper was a young man with cerebral palsy whom Presley befriended. Elvis grew close with him and ultimately put in charge of one of his fan clubs.

Pepper hung on to a good portion of the locks of hair from Elvis’ trim.

Now the hair can be yours for the estimated price of $8,000 to $12,000.

Along with the hair, Leslie Hindman is auctioning off Pepper’s collection of photographs, and a few of Elvis’s personal effects. A red shirt he worn for a pin-up photo shoot could go for $2,000 to $4,000.

The photographs document some of the most intimate moments in Presley’s life and career such as his return home from the Army, his wedding to Priscilla, Lisa Marie’s first days home from the hospital.

Many of these images were taken by Pepper with a Polaroid camera that Elvis gave him early in their friendship and many are accompanied by the original negatives.
