Some passengers who were stuck on the tarmac at O'Hare Airport in Chicago for more than an hour, managed to make it out Tuesday night before a giant storm hit the area. They arrived safely at LAX.

The storm was so severe hundreds of flights at O'Hare, which is one of the world's busiest airports, were canceled. Thousands of passengers herded into a tunnel between two concourses.

Also all fights in and out were being delayed an hour or more because of rain and thunderstorms both in the Chicago area and in other areas of the country, the city’s Department of Aviation said, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.

No tornados were reported, but aware of just how many and how deadly tornados have been this year, those who live in LA could only say they were happy to make it out of there, and glad to be home.
