One child was killed and a second child and pregnant woman critically injured in a shooting at a home in San Bernardino.

A 3-year-old girl was killed, another 3-year-old girl was near death and a 22-year-old pregnant woman was in critical condition after a person shot into the home from the outside.

Officers were called to a hospital at about 7:30 p.m. Monday after a neighbor drove the victims to an emergency room, according to  police. The shooting occurred at a home in the 1300 block of D Street, about six blocks from the police station.

One toddler was pronounced dead at the hospital, said  Sgt. Steve Lyter.

There have been no arrests. One witness told NBC4 he heard at least eight gun shots.

"Just this week, I was talking about the fact we've had a remarkably peaceful summer," said Mayor Pat Morris . "And then the explosion came last night and it was beyond tragic."
