Iron News Man
Feeling light and ready on this Monday. Today I tackle the longest run since the LA Marathon, and I’m truly looking forward to it. Not gonna try to kill the run, just do it efficiently and smoothly. As I continue my journey to Ironman Arizona, my workouts are getting more and more challenging, but not overwhelming.
My workout Saturday was interesting to say the least. My 80-mile ride to Ventura from Santa Clarita out Highway 126 started with raindrops. I had spoken with my Triathlon Coach Jason Healey the night before and he told me not to fear the rain, just dress for it and deal. By the end of the ride, gorgeous sunshine! It made the 2-mile post ride run a pleasant experience. I used my Kueen-K tri bike for the journey and it performed like a champ!
Here’s my TrainingPeaks.com schedule for today from Triathlon Coach Jason Healey:
Run Flat Course - Recovery Run
Type: Run
Planned duration: 0:00
Planned distance: 16.0 miles
Run 16 miles on a mostly flat to rolling course. Do not run in the hills today. Run at race pace in zone 2: Medium to medium hard. Practice hydration and nutrition during this effort.
I have to stay a touch late today at work to anchor the Channel 4 news at 11am. I plan to fuel up during work. Then head directly from the NBC lot to the Santa Clarita Athletic Club to change and start my run. I’m feeling a touch under the weather. Half my house is sick (head colds). I hope I’m not coming down with anything. I hate getting sick!
