Iron News Man
Time management! That’s the theme for me as I plow through my day. Last night I received word from KNBC that I needed to stay late to anchor the 11am newscast and tape a program that airs Sunday night called News 4 Extra. On top of all that, I MUST get a nap this afternoon before I emcee an awards banquet in Beverly Hills at 6pm. Oh, at some point I must find time to weight train biceps and triceps plus hammer out an 8-mile Tempo run. Like I said… time management.
Here's the latest weather forecast for Sunday's Surf City Marathon/Half Marathon in Huntington Beach: Upper-40s to mid-50s at the race start time, cloudy and drizzly (20% chance of rain).
Here’s my Ironman South Africa training schedule for today:
Run 8-miles… 6-miles at Tempo (medium, then fast… repeat)
Weight train biceps and triceps
The weight training is scheduled for 2pm at Jordan’s Virtual Fit Club. It’s the run I’ll have to slide into my schedule depending on how my day goes. As always, I have my gym bag in the car so no matter when or where the opportunity presents itself, I can get-in my run.

Why blog? To inspire others.
Simply put, three years ago I was overweight! At 6’1” I weighed 252, and wore size 40 pants. Few people really noticed, but I did. In pictures, on TV, I was not happy with my appearance. Covering the 2007 LA Marathon for NBC4 was the last straw. Every picture I was in highlighted just how out of shape I had become.
No more! Since that time, the guy who could barely run around the block has slowly built-up his endurance and completed numerous events. Among the big ones: the 2008 Long Beach International Marathon , 2009 Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach, 2009 LA Marathon, 2009 Vineman Ironman 70.3, and 2009 Ironman Arizona!
I invite you to share this journey with me.
