Unearth and Empower Communities

Unearth and Empower Communities, in partnership with City Church of Compton, works alongside city residents, officials, organizations and businesses to develop interdependent neighborhoods by training and empowering people to transform their communities. UEC’s initial programming focuses on strengthening the areas of literacy, arts education, mentoring and entrepreneurship.

Since 2008, Unearth and Empower Communities has reached hundreds of students in grades K-12 in the cities of Compton, Paramount & North Long Beach. Unearth and Empower Communities works alongside city residents, officials, organizations and businesses to develop interdependent neighborhoods by training and empowering people to transform their communities. UEC’s initial programming focuses on strengthening the areas of literacy, arts education, mentoring and entrepreneurship.  Volunteers, ages 12 and older, are trained to help tutor students in the subjects of math, writing, reading and science during our after school program. Other volunteer opportunities are also available. Click here to learn more.
