Fritz's Holiday Lights Bus Visits Sumner Elementary to Celebrate Toys for Tots Campaign

NBC4’s Fritz’s Holiday Lights double-decker bus visited Sumner-Danbury Elementary School in Claremont to celebrate the school’s successful Toys for Tots collection on December 20.

Axel Garcia Jr., an 8-year-old student at Sumner Elementary, came up with the idea of organizing a school-wide toy drive to give to those less fortunate this holiday season. The children and their families donated hundreds of toys over several weeks and celebrated their accomplishment at their annual holiday event. The toys were collected by the Toys for Tots Marines and will be delivered to several local non-profit organizations that serve underprivileged youth.

In recognition of Axel’s efforts, the Mayor of Claremont, Larry Schroeder, presented him with a certificate of recognition for his community contribution. In addition, the Pomona Police Department participated in the festivities and dropped off bags of toys to add to the collection.
