Iron News Man
My back is feeling marginally better, but a trip to the chiropractor should help speed the recovery. With Vineman Ironman 70.3 fast approaching, if I have to go to the chiropractor multiple times, so be it.
So I’ve heard from a few friends that I was featured in the latest issue of Competitor (California) Magazine as SoCal’s Competitor of the Month. It came as a surprise. Turns out my friend and ace photographer Rich Cruse nominated me. Thanks Rich, it was a fabulous honor to be featured. Here’s a link to the radio interview from which the print version was culled.
Today is a rare day of in-week rest from my cardio training. It couldn’t come at a better time. Here’s my TrainingPeaks.com schedule for today from Triathlon Coach Jason Healey:
Recovery Day
Type: Day Off
Planned duration: 0:00
Planned distance: 0.0 miles
Actively focus on recovery today: 1) stay off of legs all you can, 2) watch nutrition closely (healthy carbs, lean protein, and good fats), 3) stretch, and 4) drink when thirsty.
I am offering two Days off this week...(Today and Sunday). Take some extra time and find some quality rest Today!
Though the schedule doesn’t call for it, I still plan to workout with weight trainer Jordan Yuam. It’s a matter of availability, on both of our parts. With my bad back, we’ll be extra careful.
Here’s my meal plan from Food Coach and Private Chef Robert Vincent:
-Protein drink
-Half Cantaloupe, yogurt, half white bagel
-Cup of mixed berries, banana, six ounces of tuna
-Eight ounces of chicken, sweet potato
-Large veggie salad topped with salmon
-Protein drink
-Cup of frozen yogurt
I look forward to getting my back feeling better. My legs feel rested and that’s a good sign leading up to Vineman! Today's Wakeup Workout goes along nicely with back problems. Be sure to click on the video to the left.
