Cary Berglund is a general assignment reporter for the "Channel 4 News."
An award-winning reporter who has been in the Los Angeles market since 1989, Berglund is well known for his human-interest stories and for his coverage of cultural events, arts and social issues unique to Southern California. Berglund joined the NBC4 Los Angeles team in June 2004.
Prior to joining NBC4, Berglund had been a reporter, anchor and host of special programming at KCAL in Los Angeles. From 1989 to 1992 Berglund served as KCAL's morning and noon anchor and a general assignment reporter. From 1992 to 2002, Berglund served as a Feature Reporter and Entertainment Reporter. During his tenure at KCAL, Berglund hosted a number of specials for the station and for the Walt Disney Company. He won numerous industry awards and honors while working at KCAL, including an Emmy Award for "The Best of Berglund," an hour-long special for which he was the writer, producer and host. He won an additional Emmy Award, two Los Angeles Press Club Awards, three Golden Mike Awards and two Associated Press honors, including one for Best Television News Reporter for the State of California.
Berglund began his career at WFRV-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1978. He served as a General Assignment Reporter and then Morning Anchor. In 1980, he moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and became the Evening News Producer for WOTV. He rapidly advanced to become the station's Noon and 5:30PM Anchor and Entertainment Reporter. He left the station in 1986 to become a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for WTEN in Albany, New York. During his three years in Albany, he also served as host of several of the station’s community and entertainment shows and was also the Noon anchor.
Berglund is a graduate of Boston College and holds a B.A. in Political Science and Theatre Arts. Currently, Berglund lives in Los Angeles and enjoys renovating homes in his spare time.
