John Cádiz Klemack is a general assignment reporter for "Today in LA," KNBC's early morning newscast airing from 5a.m. to 7 a.m. and the "Midday Report" at 11 a.m. He joined the news team in January 2008.

Prior to joining KNBC, Klemack spent four years as a reporter and fill-in anchor for KSTU-TV (FOX Affiliate) in Salt Lake City, Utah. While there he covered some the biggest stories in the Intermountain West -- from the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping to the arrest and prosecution of polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs. Klemack covered a number of national stories as well for the FOX News Network.

Prior to moving west, Klemack was the morning news anchor and general assignment reporter for WOWK-TV (CBS Affiliate) in Charleston, W.Va. He also worked as a statewide news correspondent for the station's three-affiliate network. A three-year stint there put him on the front lines of major storm coverage from Ohio tornados to east coast hurricanes.

Klemack began his broadcasting career as a radio traffic reporter and show producer at News Radio 610 WTVN-AM in Columbus, Ohio. He transitioned into the television side of broadcasting first as an associate producer for WBNS-TV (CBS Affiliate) in Columbus, Ohio, and then a field producer for WCPO-TV (ABC Affiliate) in Cincinnati.

Klemack has been honored with a number of awards, including an Edward R. Murrow Award for reporting, a local Emmy award for producing, an Ohio Associated Press Award for "Best Spot News" and awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for "Best Reporter," "Best Spot News" and "Best News Series."

Klemack holds a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the accredited E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. The son of a Polish-American father and Cuban refugee mother, he is bilingual, having spoken Spanish since his childhood in Grove City, Ohio. Klemack is also a member of the Radio-Television News Directors Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
