Pablo Pereira’s current assignment includes anchoring the weathercasts on the afternoon and late weekend editions of the “Channel 4 News.” He also serves a primary fill-in weather anchor on the station’s 5PM, 6PM and 11PM weekday newscasts. He joined NBC4 in January 2006.
In addition, Pereira serves as NBC4's “Green is Universal” reporter. The environmental segments air Fridays on NBC4's 5PM newscast and on the weekend newscasts, as well.
Before joining NBC4, Pereira was the weekend weather forecaster for KABC’s morning newscasts from 1997 to 2006. He was also a weekday fill-in weathercaster and a general assignment reporter for the station.
Prior to that, Pereira was a weather forecaster at the ABC affiliate in Dallas, Texas on WFAA-TV’s #1- rated morning and noon newscasts. During that same time period, he also worked as a weathercaster for the morning drive on KSCS 96.3 FM Country Radio.
Pereira began his broadcasting career at KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas. While at the NBC affiliate, he held the positions of primary weekday weather forecaster, weekday general assignment reporter and weekend anchor/producer. From Abilene he moved to Bakersfield, California where he served as a weather forecaster and weekend anchor at KERO-TV (CBS). Pereira soon moved to the San Joaquin Valley to the NBC Affiliate in Fresno, California, KSEE, where he served as a weather forecaster, general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor.
Pereira has won a number of broadcast television awards including six APTRA awards for Best Weathercaster, Best News Series, Best Documentary and Best Feature Story. He has also received a local area Emmy Award for Best News Anchor.
A graduate of Sonoma State University with a B.A. in English, Pereira also minored in Journalism. Pereira is currently completing the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University. He is also a certified member of the American Meteorological Society and Nation Weather Association. Additionally, Pereira is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Pereira is a Southern California native and attended school at Crossroads in Santa Monica and University High School in West Los Angeles. He currently lives in the West San Fernando Valley with his wife and three boys.
