I drove to work this morning with an ice pack on my right shoulder. Expectedly, it’s a touch sore after yesterday’s 4000-yard swim. I’ll continue to ice it and nurse the shoulder as the final countdown to Ironman Arizona continues. The same goes for my knees, which have been taking a pounding (literally) from all of the running and biking lately. Still, this nearly 40 year-old body is holding up well I would say!
Today I have a Wakeup Workout shoot with my weight trainer Jordan Yuam and some of the other trainers at his gym, most notably Jeff Bomberger. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable and is well received by the NBC4 audience. The popularity of the Wakeup Workout segment has been steadily growing and I think the people and their sound advice are the reasons why.
Be sure to click on today’s Wakeup Workout which features Jeff Bomberger and “Countdowns”. If you’re unfamiliar with “Countdowns”, they’re a great way to build strength without need of a gym or special equipment.
Here’s my TrainingPeaks.com schedule for today from Triathlon Coach Jason Healey:
Workout Description:
Run 7 miles total on a mostly flat to rolling course. Do not run in the hills today. Run the first 5 miles at race pace in zone 2:(Moderate). Then run the last 2 miles at a moderate to moderately hard (Olympic distance race) pace. Practice hydration and nutrition during this effort.
I’ll run a set course I have for this distance. It begins at the Santa Clarita Athletic Club and utilizes streets. My new Nike Air Zoom Vomero 4’s are nearly broken-in. I’ve put roughly 20-miles on them already. They should have double that amount by the time I lace them up for the tortuous last part of Ironman Arizona!
Days until Ironman Arizona: 17!
