I can sense it… that focus that always comes in the days immediately preceding a race, especially one I’ve been anticipating like the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Malibu is not long (it’s a sprint tri), and it’s not terribly important to my Ironman Arizona training. However, the Nautica Malibu Triathlon is a bright stage and I want to do well. By well, I mean a decent time with no problems or hiccups during the race. Smooth transitions and a smooth race is what I’m looking to achieve.
With such a light training week, my legs feel fresh. I know that is exactly what was expected from Triathlon Coach Jason Healey. I also know that next week the steady climb to high-mileage workouts begins once again.
Here’s my TrainingPeaks.com schedule for today from Coach Healey:
Workout Description:
Ride approx 1hr in zone 2: ride at a medium-to-medium hard pace. Practice smooth circles and stay aerobic.
I’ll ride from my house in Stevenson Ranch to Jordan’s Virtual Fitness where I’ll be meeting a photographer from NBC4 to shoot my Wake Up Workout segment that airs Tuesday and Thursday mornings on Channel 4. Riding there and back should give me the hour-long ride I need… maybe a touch bit more.
I’m glad tomorrow’s workout will be stacked and more challenging.
