Your American Red Cross is and has been providing aid to victims of disaster including the people affected by the most recent So. CA wildfires. Your financial donations to support your Red Cross are greatly needed and ARE used to meet disaster related emergency needs in your community. All disaster assistance to the victims of disaster is free and made possible by the generosity of the public. Supporting your Red Cross chapter also ensures that Red Cross is able to maintain a state of readiness to respond. Readiness includes the equipment needed such as cots, blankets, and feeding vehicles, and the training of staff and volunteers to ensure excellent services are provided. Long before the disaster is reported in the news, (approximately 70,000 times per year!) Red Cross is on scene providing sheltering, food, clothing, emotional support, addressing medical needs, and distributing supplies such as hygiene kits, clean-up kits, etc. Your Red Cross also works diligently with other partner agencies to provide a coordinated assistance network to address other needs as the recovery process progresses and supports miltary families through emergency communications and other assistance. Your Red Cross trains thousands of people in your community to perform first aid and CPR, and how to prepare for and recover from emergencies. This Fund enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disasters. The American Red Cross honors donor intent.
