Emmy Award-winning journalist Alycia Lane will join KNBC, NBC’s owned and operated television station in Los Angeles, as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter, effective August 19.

Lane will anchor KNBC’s weekend evening newscasts and serve as a general assignment reporter for the station. She takes over for Kim Baldonado, who last month was promoted to anchor the Monday- Friday Midday Report and the weekly News Extra, which focuses on KNBC’s signature investigative reporting.

“Alycia is an experienced anchor and skilled reporter who has a tremendous ability to engage and connect with the audience,” said Craig Robinson, President and General Manager, KNBC. “Her energy and talent will be great assets to KNBC, and we look forward to her contributions to our newsroom.”

Lane previously spent five years as the principal weeknight anchor for the 4, 6 and 11 pm newscasts at KYW, CBS’s owned-and-operated station in Philadelphia. Within her first two years at KYW, ratings for the station’s 11pm newscast grew 32% and jumped to second place for the first time in a decade*. In addition to anchoring, Lane hosted the weekly series “A Woman’s View,” exploring issues unique to women, and also obtained several high profile exclusive interviews, including First Lady Laura Bush and Lynne Cheney during the 2004 Presidential Election. Lane received two local Emmy Awards for her reporting and a 2007 Edward R Murrow award for Overall Excellence in Large Market News.

Prior to KYW, Lane worked as a weekend anchor and reporter for WTVJ, NBC’s owned-and-operated station in Miami, FL, from 2001 to 2003. There, she quickly distinguished herself with coverage of the impact of September 11th on the region, from the hunt for suspected terrorists, to in-depth reports on the backlash felt by Florida’s Muslim community. Other major assignments included coverage of Hurricanes Michelle and Isadore and the investigation into the anthrax attack on the National Enquirer tabloid publisher American Media. Previously, Lane was a reporter and fill-in anchor for WSVN, the FOX affiliate in Miami, where she covered the Elian Gonzalez story.

Lane also served as an anchor and reporter for cable news station News 12 in New York, where she shot, wrote, produced and edited her own stories. Lane began her career as a Washington-based reporter for KSNT-TV in Topeka, Kansas.

Lane, who is fluent in Spanish and of Puerto Rican heritage, holds a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany in Spanish Language and Literature, graduating with honors. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

A native of Long Island, New York, Lane currently resides in Los Angeles.
