Fireworks Turn to Duds in Montebello

Montebello residents will have to take a road trip this year if they want to see fireworks.

"The City Council has voted unanimously to cancel this year's 4th of July fireworks show," the Whittier Daily News reported.

The show had a $39,093 price tag.

Instead, the money will be used to help needy families, City Administrator Richard Torres told the newspaper.
