Two Live Music Clubs to Battle it Out

Two live-music mainstays-- Spaceland and Troubadour-- will battle it out for the NBCLA Golden Local title “Best Live Music Venue.”

Spaceland has long been a mainstay in the live music community since the infamous first show in 1995 featuring the then unknown Foo Fighters.

The 260 capacity space-themed venue rocks with state-of-the-art sound, 2 full bars, pool table, couches, and is known for breaking new acts . Monday’s feature the best up and coming locals and touring acts. Wednesday’s host Club NME showcasing the best DJ’s spinning rock, indie, punk, electro, and more. And when the ad says “special guests,” you never know who you might see.

The legendary Troubadour club in West Hollywood has been the place for serious fans to enjoy top quality music since it opened in 1957. After a gig by resident band The Men, Bob Dylan comes onstage for an impromptu "folk-twist" jam session - attended only by Troubadour staff. Shortly afterward, Dylan makes pop music history by switching from folk to folk-rock. It’s been an LA destination for some of music’s greatest talents ever since.

Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Hall and Oats, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have all performed. Carly Simon, opening for Cat Stevens, met James Taylor for the first time and later married. John Lennon was once escorted out of the club for heckling the Smothers Brothers. The Troubadour continues to be a destination for cutting-edge acts from around the world.

NBCLA users will decide which club rocks the house starting Wednesday. Watch for the Golden Local.
