Hollywood Park has canceled its race program because there aren't enough horses.
Track officials say it's a one-time cancellation because Thursday's eight-race card could not be filled. Typically, a minimum of six horses per race is needed to fill the card but the track couldn't get that amount.
Hollywood Park spokesman Mike Mooney says six races were filled.
The decision comes days after the Del Mar track north of San Diego reduced its racing week to five days for the first time since 1945. Officials there cited economic reasons. Del Mar had been operating on a six-day race format.
Hollywood Park will have simulcast wagering only Thursday.
