Actor and Activist Ed Begley Jr. attends the 2009 Educating the Heart Dinner. Begley successfully wrote and directed the musical "Cesar and Ruben." It chronicles the life of the civil rights leader through music and conversation with slain LA Times journalist Ruben Salazar. Salazar frequently covered Chavez's humanitarian efforts.

Actors Ed Begley Jr. and Hector Elizondo attended the 9th annual Educating the Heart Awards Dinner. Elizondo accepted the Cesar E. Chavez Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of fellow actor and humanitarian Ricardo Montalban who died in January. Cesar E. Chavez spent this life demanding justice and equality for America's farm workers. He died in 1993.
