Praises of "Geek Hotels" Sung; Madonna Inn Still Rocks

Oh Madonna Inn. We long to write an ode to your rock walls and animal-striped sheets.
We'd probably move into the Madonna Inn if the Madonna Innkeepers would let us. Why do we love the Central Coast hotel so? Oh, the themed rooms are a start (we favor "What's Left," an eye-dazzling room that incorporates materials and styles from several of the garishly decorated suites in the colorful hotel). We like the candy-pink steakhouse, drinking juice out of heavy, light-reflecting goblets in the breakfast cafe, and spying a large doll on a swing when we first amble in the rose-hued place. And the men's urinal? You know about it. Everybody knows about it. Has a small, fake waterfall ever been put to such good use?
So when we eyed the Concierge.com list of top geek hotels, including one that's based on The Shire (perfect for wannabe hobbits like ourselves), we felt pulled. Torn, even. Would our devotion to the theme-y, dreamy Madonna Inn be tested? Even bested? Well, no. The MI is A1 with us always, but we'd still like to check some of these places out. We do hope that those hobbit-y rooms are complete with tiny soaps, extra blankets, and one ring to rule them all. My preciouuuus...
