It's no surprise once you see "Killer Tumbleweeds," that the spoof of the Killer Tomatoes genre was done with little or no money. What might surprise you is the number of laughs the film can scare up.

The two guys behind the film are the McCain brothers, who in a former life were Oklahoma news reporters. So they already know about cameras and videotape and tumbleweeds.

The film had one premiere back in the dust bowl, and now it has its west coast debut at the usually shuttered Rialto Theatre in South Pasadena on Saturday night.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. The event is free to the public.
