PETA Member Shows Her Stripes

Nothing says animal rights like a caged naked woman painted like a tiger.

As part of a PETA protest against circuses Thursday, PETA member Melissa Sehgal bore nothing but stripes in Anaheim. That's where the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Baily Circus is scheduled to begin.

"I'll gladly bare my skin if it will help expose Ringling's abusive treatment of animals," Sehgal said in a news release. "The best way to stop this abuse is for people to boycott Ringling and other circuses that use animals."

Sehgal was in a cage under a banner that read, "Wild Animals Don't Belong Behind Bars."

Circus officials have said that PETA represents an extreme view point, according to the Orange County Register. The newspaper reported that circus owner Ken Feld is running newspaper ads that claim PETA's viewpoints are unfounded.

The protest was at Center Street Promenade.
