No Lines at New DMV Office in El Monte, For Now

No lines at the DMV?  Sounds like an oxymoron.  

A new field office for the Department of Motor Vehicles has opened in El Monte, and what is unusual about it is that there are no lines of exasperated people there. That’s because it’s so new, few people even know about it yet.   

People are getting called to the window before they even sit down. The longest wait to on Wednesday  was less than a half hour.  
 
George Belicio said he has been in bank lines that were longer. Christine Gonzales didn't want anyone else to know about the new office.
 
“Keep it for the El Monte community,” she pleaded, then giggled

Officials hope the 10,000-square-foot facility on Arden Drive will ease the crowds at other nearby DMV’s. 
 
With the West Covina office closed until December, the crowds may start showing up soon.  
 
For now, the DMV workers say they are enjoying the calm before the storm.
